"George E. Fickenworth
"Retired from Erie Forge & Steel
"George E. Fickenworth, 95 of Erie, died Tuesday, June 29, 2004, at Millcreek Community Hospital.
"He was born Sept. 20, 1908 in Erie, son of the late George and Anna Deptner Fickenworth.
"He was a supervisor for Erie Forge & Steel and retired in 1969 after 30 years. He formerly worked for Henry Shenk Construction and General Electric Co.
"H graduated from Academy High School in 1925.
"As a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, he had performed in its choir for many years. He enjoyed hunting and gardening.
"He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Helwig Fickenworth, in 1972; a daughter, Norma Jean Hinrichs; two brothers, John and Robert Fickenworth; two sisters, Josephine Gordon and Anna Hibert; and a grandson, Mark Weed.
"Survivors include three daughters, Betty Jean Williams and her husband, Charles, of Erie and Virginia Ann Young and her husband, Archie, and Mary Ellen Stubblefield, all of Fresno, Calif.; three sons, George R. Fickenworth and his wife, Agnes, of Fresno, Donald D. Fickenworth of North Carolina and Robert P. Fickenworth and his wife, Pauline, of Erie; a stepson, John Briening of Erie; four sisters, Frieda Triana, Isabell Nelson and her husband, Earl, and Elsie Fickenworth, all of Erie, and Rosemarie Brown and her husband, Ted, of Jefferson City, Mo.; 33 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
"Friends my attend a graveside service on Friday at 11 a.m. in Section 3 of Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery, 2601 Norcross Road.
"Arrangements are being handled by the W. James Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle St.
"In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Erie Unit, 2115 W. 38th St., Erie, PA 16508."
